We took the first week of October as the first "off" week in our six weeks on/one week off school schedule. This gave us some much needed time for rest and fun as well as time for time-consuming tasks that would ordinarily interrupt the school routine.
Our week started with a trip to a pumpkin patch! We had a fun time enjoying a hay ride, 100-foot slide(!), and other fun activities.
We all took our first trip to the State Fair of Texas! We had a great time and enjoyed some fun fair food--funnel cakes and fried pickles! We also took a picture with Big Tex, which was apparently a good idea as he is now a pile of ashes.
We also took a trip to the zoo to finish out our week. As far as tasks, we took care of dentist visits and flu shots, and I switched all our closets from summer clothes to cooler weather clothes. (A bit early, I guess, as it has been 90 degrees almost every day since that undertaking.)
Oh! And to start our week, PJ and I enjoyed seeing Les Miserables as a celebration for paying off our mortgage! Look for more info on this after our debt-free scream on the Dave Ramsey show in November. (Which I am absurdly excited about!)
So far I'm really enjoying our newly adopted school schedule. I'm already looking forward to our next week off, which is expected to include a road trip to visit some great friends.
