This is a post for 31 Days about making it as a mom. Check out the intro post if this is your first time here!
Earlier this month, Rachel wrote a wonderful post her fitness journey and the importance of fitness as a mom. Today, I'm going to share what works for me as far as working out post-baby.
After Ben was born in March, my body was a wreck. I had been incredibly sedentary since the previous September, when out-of-control nausea became my constant companion. As his birth was an emergency c-section, my body got pretty torn up in the rush to get him out. It took almost a month to be able to walk around the block successfully. Core muscles? Pretty sure those got left in the OR.
As summer started, I knew that getting back to regular exercise would speed up the recovery process and help me feel more normal. I started very slowly with my go-to exercise source, Fitness Blender.
Fitness Blender has hundreds(!) of free workout videos that offer an incredible variety: five minutes to an hour; level one stretching to level five "brutal" workouts; no equipment to various equipment; upper body, lower body, core, and total body. If there's a workout type you're looking for, it's probably on Fitness Blender.
Right now, Fitness Blender works best for me because I can choose my workout based on how much time I have and what my skill level is. Also, I love that all the videos are free!
Right now, I'm trying to do a lower body stretching video daily, as I have been told by a physical therapist that I have the flexibility of a much older lady.
I also like these quick upper body and ab videos, as well as this fifteen minute HIIT workout.
My next goal is to move up from level three to level four workouts by the end of the year.
As our family goes through some big changes, I know that becoming healthier is going to need to be a higher priority for me. Fitness Blender is a great choice for me in this busy season when gym memberships or set workout classes aren't the best fit.
What do your workout plans involve? I'm always up for recommendations! Let me know in the comments below or on Facebook!
