Well, we have approximately 30 hours of parenting down and one thing is clear…we are very new at this! But all three kids are alive and well after two weekends with us, and they’re coming home in just a few days. We survived two 90-minute car trips in 24 hours, a baby with a 102 degree fever, and the general chaos of adding three young kids to a house previously set up for adults. Even so, the kids’ foster mom texted me the night after we took them back home to say that the kids couldn’t stop talking about how excited they were about coming to live with us. Win!
We’ve really enjoyed getting to know our kids. They’re sweet, outgoing, playful, and loving. We still have A LOT to learn and many challenges ahead. The only reason we think we can do this is because Jesus reigns. He loves these kids and so do we.
Our church, family, and friends have showered us with love and support as we get ready for our kids to come home. Every single need has been fulfilled. They’ve shared their worst mothering moments and best advice, prayed for us, encouraged us, painted the kids’ rooms, moved furniture, hosted showers, and held me together in the midst of sobbing breakdowns. We are so blessed!
We can’t wait to have the kids here all the time. I already miss tickling Baby’s belly and hearing her say “mama,” listening to Girl’s precious giggle, and hugging Boy when he wakes up in the morning.
Stay tuned for the next crazy adventure!
