First, I found this article to be incredibly encouraging this week: “Joy or ‘Just Wait’”
A quick update: last week was our first week without additional family help. Oh, what a week it was. There is a nasty stomach virus going around, and Seth was the first one to get it in our family. Cue a non-feeding, lethargic baby, three doctor visits in three days, and a trip to the ER. Thankfully, Seth began recovering on the way to the ER. By the time we were seen, he was as happy as could be. We got to go home a few hours later after he had eaten twice successfully. Brooklyn, Emma, and I have all had encounters with this lovely bug, as well.
We’re working on getting back to school. It has been…a learning experience, shall we say. Two school kids, a busy toddler, and a newborn make for busy, chaotic days. 9.5 weeks until we finish the year!
My sister is visiting this week, which has been such a blessing! She’s taken the 1 a.m. feeding, leaving me to sleep from 9-4! Emma is ecstatic to have a playmate, Seth has an extra snuggle buddy, extra chores are getting done, and I can focus on Harley and Brooklyn a little more.
And, as PJ reminded me as he proofread this, we’ve had so very many people helping us: meals, diapers, clothes, babysitting, visits, prayers, encouraging words. We are truly blessed by the loving work of Christ’s people.
I’m trying to think of a catchy ending to this post, but I’ve been up since 4 a.m. with a fussy baby. So for now, the life-giving words I’m clinging to, along with a large glass of Coke: He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. (1 Thess. 5:24)
