DC Part 1: The Museums, The Zoo, and What I’m Still Laughing About

Katie King Katie King

We decided to take a family trip to Washington, D.C. over Memorial Day weekend, taking advantage of the extra (wonderful) help while my sister, Hannah, was visiting.

I. Love. DC. I frequently pester request sweetly that PJ take a job in the DC area so that I can live in this wonderful city.

There are two things I love about DC in particular: the Metro and the Naked Mole Rats at the zoo. I could quite happily ride the Metro all day. I really can’t explain my undying love for this city’s public transportation. And the mole rats…seriously…they are the best evidence that God has a great sense of humor! These ugly, hairless, blind little things provide such joy to me as they run into walls and tumble over each other. I really could watch them all day, if I ever decided to get off the Metro.

We went to the Museum of Natural History, the Air and Space Museum, and the National Zoo.

You might be able to imagine that traveling with four kids has its interesting moments! I snapped this next picture during a massive screaming fit at the zoo. Little Miss Emma wanted to ride in the already-occupied stroller and gave us this little gem:

Check back soon (I hope!) for pictures of the rest of the trip!
