So for some reason, there are two particular things in our house that get under my skin and drive me much crazier than they should: fabric softener sheets left on the floor, and a bathroom cabinet that is forever open. No matter how many times I ask the kids to just throw the dryer sheets away, they are invariably left on the floor. No matter how many times I ask everyone to close the cabinet (which requires closing the lid of a storage box inside), the door is left ajar. First world problems, right?!
God recently showed me that I was allowing sin to grow and fester over these two stupid things.
“Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.” Romans 1:22-23
Katie, for the love, just stop using dryer sheets. Buy some fabric softener. And move that offending box.
Ahem. Yes. I’ll get right on that.
I’m not really sure why it has taken me multiple months to come to such an obvious conclusion. Maybe it’s more self-satisfying to gripe at people about dryer sheets. Oh my word. I feel like an idiot just typing this. I am so thankful for a God that loves me in the midst of such ridiculous sin and calls me to repentance. Over dryer sheets. Which are no more.
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ” Ephesians 1:7-9
