In my prayer life, I’m quick to present needs and requests to God, and I generally know of sin that needs to be confessed. However, I don’t naturally overflow with praise and thanksgiving, and I want to change that. Enter these adoration printables from Every Bitter Thing is Sweet. For every day of the year, there is a Scripture verse pointing to a characteristic of God. These have been so helpful in growing my understanding of and affection for who God is. I can carry these short verses in my mind throughout the day, hopefully(!) remembering to praise and adore God for who He is.
December 29th’s verse was Isaiah 40:5, but I somehow ended up at Isaiah 40:11, which reads: “He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.”
I cannot fully express how sweet these words were to my soul. That night, I was so very worn out from dealing with the kids. Whether it was the lack of routine, the holiday celebrations, the presence of visitors, or just plain old sin, the days seemed to be one long need for correction of actions and attitudes. Including my own.
But oh, these precious words! God does not forget parents in the long days of raising children. No, He draws us near and carries us, gently leading, knowing that we are weak and He is strong!
Parents, take heart! Your perfect Father sees you and leads you and carries you.
Everyone, think about downloading those printables if you’re looking to grow in affection for the Lord. He is worthy to be praised!
