Another week done! This week, I particularly looked forward to Friday. PJ and I enjoyed a date night last night, and I’m enjoying another Saturday off! PJ heads back to school on Tuesday.
This school week went much more smoothly than last, praise the Lord. We finished earlier each day while still completing my lesson plans. The kids enjoyed the benefits of extra time for playing outside and using their earned screen time.
My favorite part of the week? We started using Teaching Textbooks for Vernon’s math! This curriculum has video lectures and automatic grading, which saves me up to an hour of one-on-one instruction each day. He enjoys the videos and shorter lessons, and I enjoy streamlining my teaching time!
Emma learned the letter “M” this week, and we read books about monkeys, mice, mountains, the moon, mama, and even a Model-T. We read Angus Lost as her “Five in a Row” book. She counted to eighty with help and is now enjoying using her number flash cards by herself. I moved Emma’s lessons to the end of the morning after teaching Vernon’s and Brooklyn’s language arts lessons—she now whoops with joy when I announce it’s school time! It’s pretty precious. She also enjoys getting to watch an episode of a favorite show while she waits.
With the big kids, we finished our study of the Alamo/Texas independence. We started studying atoms with two fun experiments. I always mean to take pictures but forget until I’m writing about the week!
