Today I’m starting a new series about what God has been doing in my heart and our family’s life over the last few months. We moved to Waco in the spring because we thought we had hit the bottom in terms of fatigue and parenting challenges. Turns out, we hadn’t, and there were even more challenging times ahead. Over the last few months as we’ve been fighting our way through the craziness, one theme has stuck out: LET IT GO. (Now you have the song stuck in your head, don’t you? You’re welcome.)
Let it go. Here’s what I mean, from John 15:2.
Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
More on prune, from Merriam-Webster:
1) To cut away what is unwanted or superfluous
2) To cut off or cut back parts for better shape or more fruitful growth
The Lord has been cutting away the superfluous parts of our daily routine, and I’m now seeing the fruitful growth as I breathe easier and rest better and laugh more. Join me in the upcoming weeks as I share what we’ve let go and how that has affected our family.
