After reviewing the Trim Healthy Mama Plan, I knew I needed to get the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook to get a full picture of the Trim Healthy Mama (THM) craze. The cookbook, also by Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison, offers over 500 pages of THM information and recipes.
The Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook will be a welcome addition to anyone following the THM plan. It is easy to use and covers a wide variety of recipe types.
Here’s what I loved about this cookbook:
- The recipes are sized for 6-8 people (other than single-serve recipes). This is great for my larger family, as the typically-sized four serving recipes don’t cut it for us.
- Each recipe is labeled with a THM designation (E, S, FP, etc.), and each recipe section has a table of contents with the designation listed, making it easy to find a recipe for the particular type of THM meal you are wanting.
- The recipe photographs are beautiful!
- Recipes requiring no special ingredients or that are dairy-free are clearly marked. I tended to bookmark the no special ingredient (NSI) recipes to try first.
This cookbook, like the Trim Healthy Mama Plan, is quite long. I found the enormous quantity of recipes to be a bit overwhelming, although I would likely welcome the variety if I were following THM all the time.
Overall, I’m looking forward to trying out many of these recipes. I doubt that I will fully eat the THM way, but I can see these protein-packed, nourishing recipes to be very helpful in coming months.
